About the use of addresses found in the Linux Counter web pages:

This counter is located in Norway, and is operated under Norwegian law.

The pages are COPYRIGHT under the Berne Convention and the EU database treaty; single data item usage (like contacting a person) is allowed, but bulk usage (like spamming) is illegal without permission from the database owner.

Permission to use for mass mailing will not be given.

Under Norwegian law, it is a crime to send out advertisements without indicating the source of the address used for the recipient, so all such use of addresses found from the Linux Counter without attribution is per se illegal.

It is also a crime under the Norwegian Personal Data Act to use any database for a purpose other than that for which it has been gathered.

The Linux Counter data has been seeded with addresses to detect such usage, and any such usage detected will be prosecuted to the full extent of the Database Act, the Berne Convention and the Privacy Act.

You have been warned.
